Landscape Photography

Winter is a great time for landscape photography. So, how do you improve your landscape photography if you are just doing photography for fun or as a hobby. So, here are a few tips to improve your landscape photography. The first thing we will address is composition.

COMPOSITION

Try taking a range of interesting subjects regardless of where you live. If you are in the rural areas, go for a drive and get out and capture some great landscapes of interesting things such as churches, farms, towers, barns, buildings in disrepair because most people are going for the iconic landmarks. So, once you have selected what you will photograph, the next thing is the composition (how you set the object in the frame of your camera).

The rule of thirds is a major rule in composition. Imagine dividing your scene into nine squares like a tic-tac-toe board and then placing your subject in one of the thirds or two of the thirds. Be creative because rules were made to be broken. In the next post we will look at the best lens and camera settings for landscape photography.
